Who’s Who

President & Deputy President

CLT’s President and Deputy President are elected at the Annual General meeting held in June each year.

President:     Sue Kay

Deputy President:     Lynda Danby

Executive Committee

Cottingham Little Theatre is managed by an Executive Committee. They look after the day to day management of the society and make the final decision about CLT’s programme of plays and play readings. The committee comprises seven members who are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting held in June.

Chairman: Val Thompson

Val has been a member of CLT for eighteen years and has acted as stage manager on numerous occasions. However she has also enjoyed a variety of on-stage roles over the years, ranging from the vivacious and glamorous Chris in “Calendar Girls” to the distinctly unglamorous Grandma Billet in “Sandcastles” .  Val  was the Secretary of the CLT Committee for more than ten years  and is enjoying her role as CLT’s Chairman.  Val also runs the annual Quiz Night.  She can be contacted on 01482 844567.

Vice Chairman: Brian Hossack

Brian has been a member of CLT for fifty one years.   As well as acting, he’s one of CLT’s main set builders and set designer.  Brian enjoys virtually every aspect of theatre production, but he’s also CLT’s most experienced and prolific director, with many productions for the society under his belt.  One of Brian’s favourite CLT production was “A Christmas Carol” in 2010 in which he played the miserable, curmudgeonly Scrooge (soon to be reprised in November!).  Brian has served as CLT’s Vice Chairman for the last three years and is committed to doing his absolute best for the society. Brian can be contacted on 01482 875123.

Secretary: Irene McManus

Irene joined CLT eleven years ago when retirement meant she could fulfil a longstanding ambition to get involved with amateur dramatics. She’s thoroughly enjoying all aspects of “Am Dram” whether acting, back stage, set construction or even trying a new role as front of house manager for our most recent production! She says she particularly appreciates the social aspects of CLT and the fact that CLT is a genuinely welcoming group.  Irene has been Secretary for several years. Irene takes part in an annual pantomime at St Mary’s College where she used to work. Irene can be contacted on 01482 849897.

Treasurer: James Evans

James has been a member of Cottingham Little Theatre for twelve years.  Apart from acting in several productions, including “When we are Married” in November 2019, James is our technical wizard.  He manages the sound and lighting on almost all the productions and has brought both systems into the 21st century.    James also handles the Members and Friends’ Scheme and can be  contacted on 07882449708 for more information on becoming a Member or Friend.

Social Secretary: vacancy

Publicity & Ticket Officer:   Steve Waterson

Steve has been a member of CLT for six years.  He started by helping with set building, quickly moving on to set design – a skill that has ensured our sets have been truly amazing.  He has also appeared on stage during The Wolves of Willoughby Chase.  He is our extremely capable Publicity and Tickets Officer, ably assisted by Adele Williams and Angela Wright who have both made various roles behind the scenes of publicity highly efficient.

Health & Safety Officer: Alan Purdue

Elected to the CLT Committee in 2017, Alan is a very familiar face: having joined  the society in 2005, he’s been in just about every production since. Most recently he performed in “When we are Married”.  Alan says his favourite production is always the one he’s working on – he really enjoys the process of bringing a new character to life.  Singing and playing guitar is another of Alan’s great loves and for many years he worked the clubs in a comedy show band. Alan is one of CLT’s most stalwart set builders and set decorator.  Alan can be contacted on 01482 841352.
