Executive Committee
Cottingham Little Theatre is managed by an Executive Committee. They look after the day to day management of the society and make the final decision about CLT’s programme of plays and play readings. The committee comprises seven members who are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting held in June.
Chairman: Val Thompson
Val has been a member of CLT for twentyyears and has acted as stage manager on numerous occasions. However she has also enjoyed a variety of on-stage roles over the years, ranging from the vivacious and glamorous Chris in “Calendar Girls” to the distinctly unglamorous Grandma Billet in “Sandcastles” . Val was the Secretary of the CLT Committee for more than ten years and is enjoying her role as CLT’s Chairman. Val also runs the annual Quiz Night. She can be contacted on 01482 844567.
Vice Chairman: Brian Hossack
Brian has been a member of CLT for fifty three years. As well as acting, he’s one of CLT’s main set builders and set designer. Brian enjoys virtually every aspect of theatre production, but he’s also CLT’s most experienced and prolific director, with many productions for the society under his belt. One of Brian’s favourite CLT production was “A Christmas Carol” in 2010 in which he played the miserable, curmudgeonly Scrooge (also to be reprised in November 2020!). Brian has served as CLT’s Vice Chairman for the last five years and is committed to doing his absolute best for the society. Brian can be contacted on 01482 875123.
Secretary: Julie Hossack
Julie has been a member of CLT for a number of years. Julie is happy working behind the scenes and has been Stage Manager for the a large number of our productions over the last seven years. Julie has been CLT’s secretary since May 2023. She also works closely with Anne Winter, our superb props finder. Anne can make or find virtually anything we need. Julie can be contacted on 01482 875123.
Treasurer: James Evans
James has been a member of Cottingham Little Theatre for twelve years. Apart from acting in several productions, including “When we are Married” in November 2019, James is our technical wizard. He manages the sound and lighting on almost all the productions and has brought both systems into the 21st century. James also handles the Members and Friends’ Scheme and can be contacted on 07882449708 for more information on becoming a Member or Friend. James also enjoys taking part in the Murder Mystery evenings.
Social Secretary: Mike Edwards
Mike has been a member of CLT since June 2023. Mike studied Dance with Drama & Theatre Studies at Liverpool Hope University. Mike then went on to Teacher Training and taught Performing Arts at a Further Education College for young adults with Special Needs & Disabilities. Mike has now found himself working in the world of data! Mike enjoys all aspects of theatre and on average goes to the theatre once a week. Mike commenced his role of Social Secretary in July 2024. Mike is keen on organising theatre trips, play readings and drama workshops, welcoming all Friends and Members. Mike’s first role on stage with CLT was for “The Ladykillers”. Mike also has experience of directing theatre performances and choreographing dance shows.
Publicity & Ticket Officer: Sue Kay
Sue has been a member of CLT for twenty three years. She started by helping with props and soon became one of our talented actors. Sue was CLT’s treasurer for over ten years before taking a well earned break. She is back now taking care of Publicity and Ticket Sales, ably assisted by Lynda Danby and Angela Wright. Sue has always taken a very active role in all aspects of the society and is a great asset to the society.
Health & Safety Officer: Steve Waterson
Steve has exchanged his role as Publicity and Ticket Officer for the role of Health & Safety Officer. This is a key role in our society and he is very experienced and efficient in this role. He has been a member for a number of years now and is the brains behind a large number of our set designs. He is very skilled at making props and has even stage managed for the society.
