Who’s Who

President & Deputy President

CLT’s President and Deputy President are elected at the Annual General meeting held in June each year.

President: Eve Leigh

Deputy President: James Evans

Executive Committee

Cottingham Little Theatre is managed by an Executive Committee. They look after the day to day management of the society and make the final decision about CLT’s programme of plays and play readings. The committee comprises seven members who are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting held in June.

Chairman: Val Thompson

Val has been a member of CLT for fourteen years and is much in demand for her ability as a stage manager. However she has also enjoyed a variety of on-stage roles over the years, ranging from the vivacious and glamorous Chris in “Calendar Girls” to the distinctly unglamorous Grandma Billet in “Sandcastles” .  Val  was the Secretary of the CLT Committee for more than ten years  and is enjoying her role as CLT’s Chairman.  Val also runs the annual Quiz Night.

Vice Chairman: Brian Hossack

Brian has been a member of CLT for forty-three years.   As well as acting, he’s one of CLT’s main set builders and set designer.  Brian enjoys virtually every aspect of theatre production, but he’s also CLT’s most experienced and prolific director, with many productions for the society under his belt.  One of Brian’s favourite CLT production was “A Christmas Carol” in 2010 in which he played the miserable, curmudgeonly Scrooge.  Brian has served as CLT’s Vice Chairman for the last three years and is committed to doing his absolute best for the society. Brian can be contacted on 01482 875123.

Secretary: Irene McManus

Irene joined CLT seven years ago when retirement meant she could fulfil a longstanding ambition to get involved with amateur dramatics. She’s thoroughly enjoying all aspects of “Am Dram” whether acting, back stage, set construction or even trying a new role as front of house manager for our most recent production! She says she particularly appreciates the social aspects of CLT and the fact that CLT is a genuinely welcoming group.  Irene has been Secretary for several years. Irene takes part in an annual pantomime at St Mary’s College where she used to work. Irene can be contacted on 01482 849897.

Treasurer: Sue Kay

Sue has been a member of CLT for sixteen years and during that time has performed in many roles, on-stage and off!  Sue has been CLT’s Treasurer for the twelve years.  Sue does a brilliant job at keeping track of our finances and making the books balance. Sue also looks after CLT membership subscriptions and takes good care of our CLT “Friends”.  Sue is also very involved with planning the Murder Mystery evenings.  Sue can be contacted on 01482 843393.

Social Secretary: Lynda Danby

Lynda has been a member of CLT for thirteen years and is one of CLT’s regular directors. She was responsible for directing “Calendar Girl’s” which was a huge success.  Since joining CLT Lynda has been seen in a variety of roles on stage.   In recent years Lynda has been CLT’s Social Secretary and  has delivered a popular and wide-ranging programme of social events.  Lynda also directs and produces the annual Murder Mystery which is extremely popular. Lynda can be contacted on 01482 849655.

Publicity & Ticket Officer: Rachel White

Rachel has been a member of CLT for nine years since moving to Cottingham in 2009 and is another of CLTs regular directors, although she enjoys all aspects of theatre, on stage and off. She was honoured to have been invited to direct CLT’s 90th anniversary production of “A Christmas Carol”. She also really enjoyed playing “Annie” in Calendar Girls”.   Rachel has been CLT’s Publicity and Ticket Secretary for several years now.   Rachel is also responsible for designing our posters and programmes. Rachel can be contacted via the ticketline on 07955 138061.

Safeguarding Officer: Allan Purdue

Elected to the CLT Committee in 2017, Allan is a very familiar face: having joined  the society in 2006, he’s been in just about every production since. Most recently he played Harry in “Kick in the Baubles”. Allan says his favourite production is always the one he’s working on – he really enjoys the process of bringing a new character to life.  Singing and playing guitar is another of Allan’s great loves and for many years he worked the clubs in a comedy show band. Allan is one of CLT’s most stalwart set builders and set decorator.  Allan can be contacted on 01482 841352.
